The light from a hair removal laser passes through the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle. The laser energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and is destroyed. Since people have different skin colors, we need to have lasers with a variety of colors of laser light.

But Cellulite… Not So Much

Even though Fremont Laser has been performing CoolSculpting treatments at our Fremont location for years, one question that we still answer most every day is whether CoolSculpting treats cellulite. Cellulite, usually found on the thighs and buttocks, is very common, and even the most fit among us aren’t immune from it.

It’s a logical question since cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, causing the dimpled appearance. It would stand to reason that if treated fat cells are being flushed away through the body’s system, then cellulite would be good riddance. It’s reasonable, but wishful thinking. CoolSculpting is not a treatment for cellulite, and if cellulite is your main concern, CoolSculpting will not give you the results you want.

CoolSculpting reduces unwanted stubborn fat in nearly every area of the body, including the stomach, flanks (love handles), thighs, buttocks, chin, arms, etc. CoolSculpting is a gentle and effective procedure that uses a device to precisely target fat cells underneath the skin with a controlled temperature to freeze them. Over the next few months, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates these dead cells, leaving nearby cells unharmed and a more sculpted you.

When you have stubborn areas of fat and cellulite, treating two birds with one type of treatment is exciting. However, our staff prefers to be realistic about results, and we cannot lead our clients to believe CoolSculpting treats cellulite. It doesn’t. But what you may notice is that your cellulite is less noticeable.

CoolSculpting might lessen the appearance or dimpling of cellulite because there is less fat underneath the connective tissue after treatment. CoolSculpting isn’t a treatment for cellulite though because it does nothing to the connective tissue, which causes cellulite in the first place.

CoolSculpting helps “sculpt” areas of the body that are notoriously resistant to diet and exercise. Those who are closer to their ideal weight are excellent candidates. For the time being, there are treatments that help diminish the look of cellulite and some are promising, but nothing eliminates cellulite forever yet.
