Varicose Veins Treatment &
Spider Veins Treament

There are two types of Vein Therapy available; Sclerotherapy for the larger varicose veins of the legs and hands and Laser Therapy for smaller "spider veins" and blush marks.

Before considering vein therapy treatment, talk to your doctor or health care provider about what treatment options are best for your condition and lifestyle. Not all cases of varicose veins are the same.

Varicose veins are enlarged veins that can be flesh colored, dark purple or blue. They often look like cords and appear twisted and bulging. They are swollen and raised above the surface of the skin. Varicose veins are commonly found on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the leg. They often cause pain and swelling.

Sclerotherapy, involves the treatment of the large varicose veins of the legs and hands with micro-injections of a medicine that destroys the veins. The medicine, which is partially a local anesthetic, is injected with a micro-needle. Thus procedure is almost painless. The veins disappear in a month or so. This procedure is especially effective for the large varicose veins of the legs and hands. The face can also be treated.

Spider veins are similar to varicose veins, but they are smaller and are found on the legs and face. They are often red or blue and are closer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins. They can look like tree branches or spider webs with their short jagged lines. They can cover either a very small or very large area of skin. Hormone changes, inherited factors, and exposure to the sun can often cause spider veins.

The newest lasers have dramatically improved the treatment of both the small red veins on the face and the spider veins of the legs. These lasers can also treat hemangiomas and telangiectasias that can occur elsewhere on the body. Several treatment sessions may be required. The laser is relatively painless.
