Did You Know…
In the past some doctors tried to dye the patient hair dark so that more of the laser energy would be absorbed by the hair and thereby the laser would more effectively remove the hair. Unfortunately, it did not work because the dye did not reach the hair follicle.
The word “Cosmetic” is derived from the Greek word “Kosmos” which means “of this world.”
The light from a hair removal laser passes through the skin and is absorbed by the hair follicle. The laser energy is absorbed by the hair follicle and is destroyed. Since people have different skin colors, we need to have lasers with a variety of colors of laser light.
The idea behind the CoolSculpt machine started after doctors noticed that children who sucked on popsicles lost the fat in their cheeks without damage to the skin. It is amazing what can develop from a simple observation.
A tan can absorb some of the energy of laser light and prevent the laser light from reaching the hair follicle. Do not get a tan before laser hair removal.
In the 1450s, women would shave their pubic hair to get rid of lice. And then they would have a pubic hair wig made as a replacement.
Neurotoxins are medications developed from the bacteria known as clostridium botulinum. Researchers noticed that people infected with this bacterium had suffered muscle weakness. Dysport and Botox have been developed from this discovery.
The same laser that is used for hair removal, can get rid of toe nail fungus.
Just before the laser is fired, a jet of frozen air is sent to the skin to protect the skin from the laser energy and to decrease the pain.

Cosmetic Fillers and Wrinkle Relaxers

Defy Aging in Minutes

You couldn’t live in a better era for reversing the visible signs of aging than right now. What once required plastic surgery, now only takes a few minutes in our office. Today’s wrinkle relaxers render fine or severe lines unnoticeable, while cosmetic fillers plump mild to deep creases. Used alone or in conjunction with each other, relaxers and fillers take a few minutes to inject and erase years from your appearance. The results last from few months to over a year, depending on the injectable(s) used. And best of all, the look is completely natural.

Wrinkle Relaxers (Injectable Neurotoxins) – Botox®and Dysport®

Botox® and Dysport® are FDA-approved for cosmetic use, making them the number one choice for safely and effectively treating wrinkles. These neurotoxins are injected into targeted muscles, essentially paralyzing them to temporarily smooth fine wrinkles and deeper borrows between the brows, near the eyes and on the forehead. Generally, the results last between three to four months.

Cosmetic Fillers – Restylane®, Restylane Silk® and Restylane Lift®

Cosmetic (dermal) fillers use non-animal derived hyaluronic acid to plump folds and creases, evening out the moderate-to-severe lines caused by normal aging and repetitive facial expressions. Also, they are designed to improve the appearance of scars and augment lips. With cosmetic fillers like Restylane®, Restylane Silk® and Restylane Lift, there is no risk of allergic reaction because they contain hyaluronic acid, which your body produces naturally. This acid dissolves over time so the results usually last between 6 to 18 months, depending upon where they were injected, on touch ups and if they are working with other injectables like Botox or Dysport.

Our highly-trained and certified staff will help you make an informed decision on which dermal filler and/or neurotoxin will reverse what bothers you most.
